Baptism: As Presbyterians we believe that the children of believers are already a part of the Body of Christ (the Church). Consequently, we baptize infants as a sign of that spiritual union between God and the child. As children grow in the faith they come to a time in their life when they can make their own Profession of Faith.

For Youth: Rev. LaSor typically holds a Confirmation Class once a year. During this time, youth coming to an age of maturity, study the tenants of our faith, learn about our form of government and explore the depth of their spiritual commitment to Christ. These classes are usually held in the spring of each year. Youth join the church after an examination by the Session and following a public Profession of Faith in Jesus Christ

A Confirmation Class is currently under way. The class will meet weekly on Sundays (following worship) until mid-May.

Adults members can join Maplewood through via one of these paths (depending on previous church affiliation):

  • Baptism and Profession of Faith - If not previously baptized
  • Profession of Faith - If previously baptized as a child or adult
  • Reaffirmation of Faith - If a church member at some time in the past
  • Letter of Transfer - Move of an active membership from another church

Adults desiring to join Maplewood are also asked to meet with the Church Session.

New Member Classes are held periodically to acquaint prospective members with the Presbyterian Church, our form of government and Maplewood in particular. Rev. LaSor typically holds these classes on two consecutive Sunday evenings.

For additional information on any of these membership options, please contact Pastor Steve or a member of the Church Session.
