Leadership Retreat

On a very snowy morning, thirty-eight Maplewood Elders, Deacons and Leaders met at the Wimmerton Recreation Center for a planning retreat. Facilitated by Debra Thompson (Strategy Solutions), the group was challenged to examine their own leadership styles and better understand the roles they play in a healthy organization. Debra described some of the life cycles of organizations and the steps needed to bring transformation into any enterprise which has passed it's peak.

Rev. LaSor spoke with the group about our current 'State of the Union', and how we got to this point in our congretational life. Retreat participants served to document the strengths and spiritual gifts available to Maplewood. The rest of the day was spent attempting to come to grips with where God is calling us (ie. our ministry for the future). Out of this analysis approximately 20 objectives were defined. Still to come are action plans on how we reach those goals.
